Building Data Dashboards in Notion
This guide will help you create effective data dashboards in Notion to track and visualize important metrics for your projects.
Step 1: Plan Your Dashboard
Based on your "Build data dashboards" task, you need to create dashboards that will:
- Measure activation and retention against control groups
- Give cross-functional partners self-service information about tooltip effectiveness
- Track new feature adoption with new events
Step 2: Create Database Views

Since charts are database views, you can create them anywhere in Notion by navigating to the page where you want the view to appear and typing /chart. You'll be prompted to link an existing database.

Step 3: Set Up Dashboard Components
- Activation & Retention Dashboard
- Tooltip Effectiveness Dashboard
- Feature Adoption Dashboard
Step 4: Combine Into a Master Dashboard
You can bring multiple charts together into a page, then click and drag them around to create a comprehensive dashboard. This allows stakeholders to see all relevant metrics in one place.
Step 5: Additional Next Steps
- [x] Ask Jonny for access to Hex (as mentioned in your task)
- [x] Schedule cross-functional meeting to collect feedback and requests
- [x] Create documentation explaining how partners can self-serve information
